Google and the Failure of George Bush?
Go to the Google homepage and type in "failure" without the quotes. Then Click on the "I'm feeling lucky" button. What this button does is it takes you to the one page that google thinks is the best based on what you entered.
How could this page be the best fit according to the search engine? The word "failure" is not used on this page even once. Is the problem merely a glitch? What are the chances of a glitch doing this? Some say that this is merely a problem of a Google Bomb. This would influence google to place it highest on the list. But how can it be first if it doesnt even have the search word in it?
Another seemingly "glitch" is the fact that if you type in "french military victories" without the quotes, you get this. You cant tell me that there is no website with the words french military victories in it. You also can't tell me that google would think there was a confusion between the words victory and defeat. However, a closer look brings the eyes to the website name: http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/text/victories.html
If you type in "Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego" without the quotes, it tells you where she is: "Location: Cairo, Egypt." Here is a website that tracks glitches on google news. However, on this Slashdot website, they say that many things considered to be hacks or glitches are really not.
Other interesting finds when you type in: xx elmer
In general, I thought all this was interesting and entertaining. I use google... this is what can happen. Whether they are hacks or not, they sure are funny!
