Looking Forward: Structure in My Life

This weekend I am going to attend GROW--GrassRoots Organizing Weekend--and I'm looking forward to it. Except for one not so minor detail. I won't get back to Bryn Mawr until Sunday afternoon. This means that I won't be able to attend church on Sunday morning. It also means that I need to finish all of my homework before I go. This is because it goes against my belief system to do schoolwork on Sundays.

I choose to do this for religious reasons, but I also think that it would be useful if everyone else took a day off, too. One day every week to pretend that schoolwork doesn't exist. And it won't because it will be finished before this "day of rest." Not doing school-oriented items on Sundays also helps me to be more enthusiastic about doing them the rest of the week. If anyone bothers to read this, a day off is something to think about. Personally I think it is one of the best decisions that I have made in my life.

Eyebrows

Next Wednesday I
get dressed up
for my senior picture.
You know? Look
more put together than usual.

Therefore, I must
find tweasers
just to pluck my eyebrows
so neatly.
I have always been a strange person.

Others worry
about peace.
Or world hunger. Or health.
But not me.
I’ll solve problems with coiffed eyebrows.

Greetings from the Blogosphere

Just wanted to let you know that I added your site to my Blogroll. What a great project! Keep up the great work.
